Meet The Punkles with “Lady Madonna”
by Matt on Oct.20, 2010, under Covers
The Punkles are one of my favorite Beatles cover bands.
As the smartest among you might have guest, they cover the Beatles song in… a punk style
After all, isn’t Punk music the ultimate evolution of what the Beatles started 10 years before ?
What do you think ?

Demo recording of “I’ll Follow The Sun”
by Matt on Oct.12, 2010, under Demo
Here comes a nice home demo of “I’ll Follow The Sun”.
The song was written by Paul when he was just 16 (as you can hear it
), long before the Beatles published it in 1964 on the album “Beatles For Sale”.
In fact, according to Paul, this demo was recorded in the bathroom of his home during a school holiday in April 1960.

The beatles – I’m down live at Shea Stadium
by Matt on Oct.09, 2010, under Live
Here is a live version of “I’m down” during the first Shea Stadium concerts in 1965.
This is one of my favorite performances of all time by the Beatles, so much the energy!
John and George laughing, John playing organ with his elbows, they look really happy together!
This version is taken from the “Anthology” (volume 5 i think) and features the comments by the Beatles and they road manager Neil Aspinall.
Believe me, this “I’m down” will cheer you up!

Demo recording of “Goodbye”
by Matt on Oct.06, 2010, under Demo
Here comes a demo recording of the song “Goodbye”. It is a very nice tune written by Paul (Credited to: Lennon/McCartney) for Mary Hopkins in 1969.
At this time, Apple was looking for new talents to produce and Mary was one of the first chosen artists (along with James Taylor, Badfinger, and Billy Preston).
She was recommended to Paul by the model Twiggy who saw her on the British talent show “Opportunity Knocks”.
Paul liked her and decided to give her the song “Goodbye” which was probably written during the white album period.
Enjoy!
Lyrics:
Please don’t wake me up too late,
Tomorrow comes and I can not be late.
Late today when it becomes tomorrow I
Will leave to go a-way.
Goodbye, (goodbye) goodbye (goodbye).
Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye.
Songs that lingered on my lips
Excite me now and linger on my mind.
Leave your flowers at my door,
I’ll leave them for the one who waits behind.
Goodbye, (goodbye) goodbye (goodbye).
Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye.
[Instrumental chorus with vocal stylings.]
Goodbye, (goodbye) goodbye (goodbye).
Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye.
Far away my lover sings a lonely song,
And calls me to his side.
When a song of lonely love invites me on,
I must go to his side.
Goodbye, (goodbye) goodbye (goodbye).
Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye.

The Decca audition: Bésame Mucho
by Matt on Oct.01, 2010, under Bootlegs
In 1962, the Beatles were looking for a record compagny in London and passed many auditions.
On 1 January, Paul, John, George and Pete Best were auditioned by producer Tony Meehan (ex-drummer of the Shadows) for Decca Recording, performing a total of fifteen songs in just under one hour.
The company is famous for refusing them declaring that “guitar groups are on the way out” and that “the Beatles have no future in show business”.
Decca later didn’t miss the Rolling Stones and signed them in 1963
So let’s rock with one of the song performed during this audition: besame mucho.
Tcha Tcha Boom!
For the record, here is Paul in 1962.

Demo recording of “Child Of Nature”
by Matt on Sep.30, 2010, under Demo
I will open this blog with a nice demo.
Child Of Nature was written by John in 1968 in India, the tune was never officially released by the Beatles.
We could think this is a complete unreleased song but listen to it, the melody might sound familiar to you.
Yes! That’s right! The song was rewritten by john in 1971 for the album imagine.
With its new lyrics, it is now known as “Jealous guy”
Lyrics:
On the road to Rishikesh
I was dreaming more or less
And the dream I had was true
Yes, the dream I had was true
I’m just a child of nature
I don’t need much to set me free
I’m just child of nature
I’m one of nature’s children
Sunlight shining in your eyes
As I face the desert skies
And my thoughts return to home
Yes, my thoughts return to home
I’m just a child of nature
I don’t need much to set me free
I’m just a child of nature
I’m one of nature’s children
Underneath the mountain ranges
Where the wind that never changes
Touch the windows of my soul
Touch the windows of my soul
I’m just a child of nature
I don’t need much to set me free
I’m just a child of nature
I’m one of nature’s children
